Charities we support

Veterinary Nutrition Group believes that older pets, or pets with manageable medical conditions, are just as deserving of a loving home. To that end, we are happy to provide nutritional advice free of charge to approved or registered rescue groups or shelters in Australia or New Zealand, that are caring for, and seeking to re-home, dogs or cats with medical needs.

Some examples of situations where nutrition may be a key part of disease management are:

  • Older cats with early chronic kidney disease

  • Suspected food allergies or chronic gastrointestinal disease

  • Chronic skin disease

  • History of bladder stones

  • Osteoarthritis in older dogs and cats

  • Pancreatitis or hyperlipidaemia

  • Chronic liver disease or portosystemic shunts

What we offer to approved rescue groups and shelters, at no cost:

  •  General advice on nutrition, selection of commercial diets and appropriate therapeutic diets

  • For adoptable pets with manageable medical needs, we can prepare and provide the new owner with a simple nutrition information sheet and guidelines on what to feed their new pet

  • For pets requiring a home-prepared diet (for example, a growing dog with congenital renal disease), we can provide the new owner with one simple therapeutic recipe and ongoing nutritional support

If you would like more information on what we can offer to rescue organisations, please get in touch with us.
