Fresh look, improved formula

We have made the following improvements to CompleteMe Hypo Feline Plus:

  • We have revised the product name to reflect its diverse use for different medical conditions.
  • Astaxanthin from organic marine algae has been added - a potent antioxidant with research supporting its use for gastrointestinal, joint, brain and cardiac support. Curcumin phytosome has been removed due to its staining tendencies, and also sourcing challenges. The new astaxanthin has given the product a slightly more rosy colour.
  • L-cysteine has been added, a therapeutic amino acid with new research showing significant potential benefits for cats with gastrointestinal disease, including reduced intestinal permeability and enhanced stem cell repair.

All other ingredients and benefits remain the same, and the dose per kilogram of food has remained the same.

Key benefits

Anti-inflammatory omega-3 from marine algae

EPA and DHA reduce inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract and skin, and maintain the intestinal barrier. They also have cardiac and cognitive benefits.

Prebiotic fibre from psyllium husk

Psyllium is a gentle fibre that improves stool consistency and supports the health of the gut microbiome.

L-cysteine for gastrointestinal regeneration

L-cysteine is a potent, therapeutic amino acid that reduces gastrointestinal inflammation and decreases oxidative stress. It promotes repair by helping stem cells to grow new intestinal tissue.

Astaxanthin for reduced oxidative stress

Astaxanthin from organic marine algae improves immune response in cats. It may also improve insulin sensitivity, maintain kidney health, and improve cognitive function.

CompleteMe Hypo Feline Plus FAQs

Can I use this product with raw meat?

Yes, CompleteMe Hypo Feline Plus can be used with raw or cooked meat, like venison, kangaroo, wild boar, emu or crocodile. We recommend using human-grade meat, and freezing any meat to be fed raw for a minimum of 10 days. For areas with Trichinella, please freeze pork for 3 weeks before use. In areas with highly pathogenic avian influenza, we recommend not feeding raw poultry of any kind.

Can I add CompleteMe Hypo Feline Plus to canned food or kibble?

CompleteMe Hypo Feline Plus should not be added to any commercial diet, or used with other vitamin and mineral supplements. This could cause harmful excesses of some nutrients.

However, it is fine to feed a balanced commercial diet along with a balanced homemade diet. For example, you may choose to feed 50% canned food, and 50% homemade food.

My product has some dark red specks or clumps of powder. What is this?

We are aware that our currently available batch of CompleteMe Hypo Feline Plus may have some small deep red specks or clumps of powder in some of the bags. This is not a contaminant; it is the organic dried Haematococcus pluvialis algae that provides astaxanthin (an antioxidant beneficial for kidney health). The algae itself is a dark red colour, and unfortunately there has been some slight clumping of the algae in this batch. This is not harmful, and the algae can just be mixed into the rest of the powder in the bag, to ensure more even distribution.

Sometimes it can be difficult to fully predict how whole food ingredients will behave when mixed with other compounds. Synthetic nutrients typically behave better, however it is important to us to also include these whole food ingredients, for their nutritional and health benefits. Apologies for any inconvenience, and rest assured that we are working on a solution to ensure that our antioxidant-rich algae plays nicer with the other ingredients.

What is the shelf-life for this product?

For CompleteMe Hypo Feline Plus, the best-by date will be a maximum of 11-12 months. There are several, important reasons for this. As our products contain freeze-dried additives, we want to ensure these ingredients are fresh and that the fatty acids don't oxidise. Some fatty acids are at high risk of oxidation, meaning ingredients like marine algae can become rancid.

We also understand that some vitamins degrade over time, during storage. This means we need to ensure that the product contains a safe and appropriate amount of these nutrients from the date of manufacture until the best-by date. These nutrients should not be too high initially, or too low following storage. 12 months is the maximum time we can therefore ensure optimal freshness, nutritiousness, and safety.
