Key benefits

Creates very high moisture meals with controlled magnesium, phosphorus and oxalates

High moisture diets help to dilute the urine, reducing the risk of struvite and calcium oxalate crystal and stone formation.

L-theanine and alpha-casozepine to promote calm behaviour

Anxiolytic compounds have been shown to modulate the brain and reduce signs of anxiety

Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) to reduce bladder discomfort

May help to reduce bladder inflammation and signs of pain relating to bladder discomfort.

N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine (NAG) to support bladder health

NAG is a form of glycosaminoglycan; these are compounds present in the bladder wall which may help to reduce bacterial and crystal adhesion.

CompleteMe Urinary Feline FAQs

Does this make a diet similar to commercial urinary prescription diets for cats?

This product is intended to make a balanced homemade diet appropriate for the prevention of struvite and calcium oxalate crystals or stones. It is also intended for cats with FLUTD/FIC, or cats with stress and anxiety problems.

CompleteMe Urinary Feline is not formulated to create a dissolution diet for struvite stones (i.e. it is not formulated to dissolve any stones present). When used with our feeding guide, gradual dissolution of struvite crystals or stones may occur, however we can not guarantee this. Please contact us for further information for cats needing a dissolution diet.

How can the one product be suitable for both struvite and calcium oxalate prevention?

It is the combination of our meal completer supplement and the food ingredients in the respective feeding guides for struvite and calcium oxalate crystal prevention that create the correct nutrient combinations to address each condition.

The main nutritional goals for struvite prevention are to feed a high moisture diet that is restricted in magnesium and phosphorus, and that will also promote the formation of acidic urine (urine pH 6.2 to 6.4).

For calcium oxalate, the most important nutritional factor is to feed a high moisture diet to promote urine dilution. Secondary factors include reducing dietary oxalate and moderating calcium. The role of urinary pH on the effects of calcium oxalate crystal formation is controversial in both veterinary and human medicine, with some studies showing an effect, whereas others do not.

I have two or three cats - can I use this product for healthy adult cats?

Yes, it is safe to use CompleteMe Urinary Feline to make food for healthy adult cats. Please use our 'Feeding guide for the prevention of struvite crystals/stones' found here. This feeding guide is formulated to produce a high moisture, high protein, low carbohydrate diet that is suitable for long-term use for healthy adult cats. Please note that the product is not formulated for growing kittens or pregnant females.

Can I use raw meat?

Yes, CompleteMe Urinary Feline can be used with raw or cooked meat, like chicken breast or thigh, kangaroo, turkey, or pork. We recommend using human-grade meat, and freezing any meat to be fed raw for a minimum of 10 days. For areas with Trichinella, please freeze pork for 3 weeks before use. In areas with highly pathogenic avian influenza, we recommend not feeding raw poultry of any kind.

What is the shelf-life for this product?

For our CompleteMe Urinary Feline, the best-by date will be a maximum of 11-12 months. There are several, important reasons for this.

As our products contain freeze-dried foods, we want to ensure these foods are fresh and that the fatty acids don't oxidise. Even when freeze-dried, some polyunsaturated fatty acids are at high risk of oxidation, meaning ingredients like mussel or egg yolk can become rancid.

We also understand that some vitamins degrade over time, during storage. This means we need to ensure that the product contains a safe and appropriate amount of these nutrients from the date of manufacture until the best-by date. These nutrients should not be too high initially, or too low following storage. 12 months is the maximum time we can therefore ensure optimal freshness, nutritiousness, and safety.
